do you do retrospectives? when/how?

For me, after completion of a large project, if at all. I’ve worked on teams that did it every week to monthly to milestone based. Problem with retros imo: 1. People tend to fixate on improvements without considering how it might impact what went well. 2. There’s often the built in assumption that what happened before will happen again and could be prevented in the future. The result is a proliferation of process. Most tight knit, high performing teams don’t need them too often imo.
