hey, how come? negativity? my thinking: downvotes are a scalable way to enforce cultural norms as oppose to algorithmic 'less like this' approaches. With downvotes, others can see downvoted posts and self moderate.

I think downvotes generally function as a way to silence people. It’s been a huge problem on Reddit where hivemind dominates and reinforces bias. Besides if there’s any algorithmic sorting, more likes vs fewer already offers the same metric
