here you can see the Nagra turntable on the top, then the HD Phono, and then the first half of the HD Preamp.

this is one of the most expensive and elaborate turntables in the world, bar none. it’s a no expense spared assault on turntable tech, trying to maximize the amount of detail and tonality that can be extracted from a vinyl record. from turntables to preamps, all of Nagra’s components have a very natural character to their sound. it just sounds “right,” like real instruments.

as a company, their hi-fi division came about after they introduced the world’s first portable recorders which were used by innumerable spooks working for spy agencies worldwide. the commercial success of those recorders and other military industrial tech has basically funded their hi-fi production which carries on as a sort of “heritage” division within the company.
