Hey @siadude . Figured I’d fill in a couple gaps on current status of legality. In the US, modern military grade -firearms- are illegal for civilian ownership. The National Firearms Act requires the registration of many types of weapons. A bill in 1986 signed by Ronald Reagan called the Hughes Amendment closed the registry for automatic and select fire weapons, so some are available but they must have been registered by 1986, the transfer registered and $200 tax stamp purchased, and the low end trash assault rifles start around $10,000.
On the other hand, if you can find somebody willing to sell to you, you can legally obtain grenade launchers or such that are modern, but will need to go through the process and that $200 tax. Just, very few people do.
