Taste test passed: it's got a dairy flavor without being too creamy or too sweet. The sour cream, cream cheese, and cottage cheese gives it a mild sour tang like a light cheesecake flavor.

I cracked open the bag and drizzled its contents over the kugel. The uncooked kernels give it a nice crunch.

What goes into the savory kind (in place of the sugar dusting on top and 1/4 cup sugar that goes into the sauce)?

I love kugel but I feel like I come from the only family that only made the savory kind?
