One of the things that's very different about Orbiter is custom domains are only available on paid plans. This is for two reasons: 1. Our free plan is incredibly generous, so we need a reason for people to want to upgrade 2. Contrary to popular belief, issuing SSL certs and renewing them is not free That said, if we allowed custom domains on free plans, what would be a reasonable reason to upgrade to paid?

I upgraded to a paid tier for the benefit of custom domains (and I agree that things need to be paid for *somehow*). Honestly, I would say to keep your tiers as they are unless there's a compelling reason to do otherwise. On an opsec note: do you run the risk of someone using custom domains in a paid tier to more easily run malicious spoof sites on your infra? Granted, paid tiers don't eliminate that possibility, but it reduces them at least a tiny bit.

We definitely run that risk, but it’s a far lower risk, imo, than the one that comes with people running malicious sites on the free domain that’s included. That said, we have moderation in place for all sites. At a certain scale, that moderation will need to change
