as a former infra/ops/noc guy, i’m still very skeptical of AI being able to make building and running software systems trivial anytime soon i’m probably wrong in a way i don’t expect. AI-created and run software may be a completely different paradigm and set of abstractions

Will start out looking like a toy with low end use cases, and quickly match and exceed. I like Eric Schmidt’s analogy of AI for programming automation with the levels 0-5 for self driving cars. Level 0: no automation (pre-2022) Level 1: programming assistance (2022-2024) Level 2: partial automation (2024-?) Level 3: conditional automation Level 4: high automation Level 5: full automation
