Today marks exactly six years when I put an end to my vice of alcohol. I'm going to reiterate something I've offered many times to folks here and elsewhere. If you're struggling with quitting your addiction, and need someone to vent/cry/yell at, my DCs are always open.

what is something that you consider has helped you remarkably on these 6 years? and also curious: why do you call it a vice? how would you describe your relationship to it in a gruk (?) story?

My spouse played a big role in supporting my recovery, I was definitely not easy to be around, especially when experiencing DTs (in retrospect going straight cold turkey was very dumb!), but the thing that has made it simpler was doing enough soul searching to figure out why I was seeking escapism at all.

Solace from a lifetime of repression. There was no solace to be found, it just was a part of me I needed to accept. πŸ™‚
