The pricing model is really frustrating as a startup - it seems like every feature requires a new subscription. Their API is just ok. This is just one engineer's perspective - we still use it because marketing likes it.

No doubt their pricing has gotten more complex as they do more. Not surprised marketing team wants it. Hard for others to compare for that. The top notch technical support is the top reason I recommend it. Would love to hear more about the API limitations though.

Their API has been "in transition" since we started using it - it's the classic "the old version is deprecated and the new version is almost ready" problem. Their old auth is deprecated but some APIs still require it. Also the API was down for 5+ hours recently. https://legacydocs.hubspot.com/docs/overview

Thanks for sharing thoughts. I knew there were updates last year, had one client still using a private key & had to help them move it. I have a new SaaS client who will be connecting their product directly into the API so good to know before I sit down with their CTO. Less of a problem if you are starting fresh? Or no?

I don't think there's any hidden problems; it's just worth doing a thorough review of each API you're going to rely on and check the docs to make sure you know what you're in for and that whatever library you choose to use supports the APIs you need and that you're happy to pay for what you need.

Good to know. Was worried from your comments that the API had temporary undocumented issues right as we are about to connect in their software. On the plus side, once we get this done, the devs won’t have to support 90%+ of what we need for sales & marketing. Frees significant time for them.

The only undocumented issue we've encountered was the downtime weekend before last. We haven't been using their API long enough to know what their usual uptime is, but hopefully that was anomalous!
