As I put the finishing touches on the upcoming /books club curriculum, some thoughts on why this particular topic is so important to me. I grew up in a small rural town in upstate New York. The internet was my escape & introduction to a world of ideas beyond my backyard. More than anyone I knew, I was a sponge for information online. When I graduated college, I found myself in a prestigious but unfulfilling job. Like most standard career paths, it had very clearly defined milestones and a surplus of people fighting for them. I could predict how every year of my life would go until retirement. So I returned to the internet. And there I found an alternative to the safe-but-dull reality of my day job. This new world was confusing and a little bit obscure. But it appealed to my values and sense of agency. I've spent a decade reading and distilling the best ideas into this curriculum. This class is my opportunity to share the very best of that world with you. I hope you find it as inspiring as I do.

We sure must find it inspiring. Do you regard farcaster as one of the means on internet at which you escaped the sad reality of life and found joy and a welcoming atmosphere?
