Isn't char limit enforced that the protocol level? I remember asking about this in the dev telegram ages ago.

It's true! Especially because we have to read it and there's no possible way to skip or scroll past long messages.

Why not 20 characters?

Hopefully with Vitalik saying this, it might actually move the needle. Limited msg length => programmable Twitter (old Twitter). Unlimited msg length => programmable social geared for alternative clients.

An alternative quote is "The people who cast the votes don't decide an election, the people who count the votes do." Not sure which one he actually said. The point is the same.

"I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this—who will count the votes, and how." - Joseph Stalin. Onchain voting is so underrated, it's hard to fathom.

Money is simple, easy to verify. Contribution is more meritocratic, but more subjective and harder to verify fairly. Both have trade-offs.

My thinking is that attention is finite. DAOs are complex and require attention to be effective. People are spread over many DAOs. They can really afford to dive deep into one DAO. Maybe 2 or 3 if they're a multitasking god.

I dunno. I'm sort of tired of this take. The effect fires when something in the dependency array changes. It's not really not that bad, and it shouldn't be used much anyways.

I know a lot of people are thinking about it. I was tempted. I got hung up on the character limit. Farcaster team said that the limit is set at the protocol level, so it would be hard to have the longer, more drawn out discussion we see in governance forums.

My first smart contract was a 'dead man's switch'. Sort of like a will. Essentially, if you didn't check in with the contract in a given time frame (ex. a year), it would send the funds to a pre-specified address.
