been screwing around with threads and bluesky and I just think social media is done threads got zucked and bluesky is a lot of bots and engagement bait and none of them can replace OG twitter and now I feel like a boomer crying about the good old days and what not there's an innovation vacuum here

I use this thinking in gaming too, not just life I'm a legend Hearthstone/infinite Marvel Snap player because I play the percentages and keep my head down; same with fantasy football, I usually do well if not top 3 each league... but I'm never elite; always just good not great

I won't continue a task that I believe is beyond reach because I don't want to invest time and effort into something unobtainable for a while this low risk low reward lifestyle served me fine but now I'm thinking I've had executive function failure for a while as much or more than selective pragmatic shutdowns

old school twitter was the revolution brought people together, brought information together it was so many things: news, culture, location-based investigation, hashtag trends, up-to-the-second reporting but it couldn't hold up to toxicity and emperor musk

nothing truly innovative is happening in social media right now. threads is basic, with engagement spam everywhere bluesky is growing but so was mastodon at one point facebook is dead, tik tok is dead, X should be dead farcaster is cool but it's not entry level what's left?
