Totally hear you—and I actually think both groups are gold for different reasons.

People who’ve hacked together their own solution are amazing because they’ve already proven the pain. They’re not just aware of it—they’ve gone out of their way to solve it, even if it's janky. That’s a strong signal.

That said, I’ve also found that true early adopters (not just the loud skeptics) are often willing to try something new and give feedback fast—if they see potential. They’re cynical, sure, but if you win them over, they can become evangelists. The trick is knowing which ones are worth listening to.

In a perfect world, you get both: the hackers and the hopeful cynics.

I'd say one better are the people who've hacked together a solution to the problem you're solving would be way more relevant and useful.

Pure play early adopters are often the most cynical bunch.
