yeah. i think this is one of those things that’s hard to parse with data. b/c numbers can’t say whether people are listening out of habit or if people actually like what’s being presented. so it’s easy to interpret the data to support one’s opinion.

There’s a few ways data is currently used to measure positive sentiment towards playlists and songs in them, but tbh people aren’t over-indexing in support in curation that has the human touch. If I’m honest, everything is labeled as algorithms and industry plants, because most consumers can’t tell the difference and the people who can tell are a niche audience who are not more like to financially support.
