Even look at where the U.S. right site in comparison to the French and Italian right who are the conscious heirs to the Vichy and Mussolini legacies.

It’s hard not to notice the striking ideological parallelism in the development of Russia and the United States. The similarity of their ideas deserves the closest attention.
I would call these new totalitarian ideologies “post-fascism.” They do not directly stem from or have an immediate connection to the fascist ideas of the past century, yet they are substantively related to them. Their main distinguishing feature is an unabashed anti-democratism, a readiness to discard the entire legacy of liberalism into the dustbin of history.
