what's the best-practice way to hold ownership of an upgradeable contract? ideally i'd want a multisig, plus a clean process for us to sign an upgrade transaction together.

Honestly I think a well documented process / system put together around this would be a huge benefit to the ecosystem. I’d help fund writing that.

have you checked out party.app? you could consider it instead of a multisig. benefit is on-chain voting + delegation + a veto period as an extra safety feature
