The "fox vs hedgehog" metaphor is incredibly confusing. I keep thinking "fox = hunter = single-minded on one target" vs "hedgehog = a thousand spikes" (also, "hedging" feels like the opposite of single-goal focus), and then I check and apparently it's the other way around.

Goes to 7th century BC Archilochus. The cultural environment has evolved quite a bit since then, no wonder it is confusing to us. "The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing."
