Everything built should be built to not depend on the social layer. No matter how strong and effective the social layer is the probability of it degrading is non 0 and only increases with time.

IMHO the social layer is what keeps things decentralized. Otherwise it is LSTs/restaking all the way.

You have to build for worst case scenario because given a long enough time, the worst case scenario will come. This is if you care about eth actually lasting as long or longer than a society, which you should.

People might try to exploit the system, must prevent that for sure. However, Ethereum relies on electricity and internet. It will not work after a nuclear war, right?

No but if there was a way you could protect against it you should just as if you can protect against the capture of the social layer or at least mitigate it as much as possible you should.
