In the US, almost a third (at best) of the population that can legally vote, doesn't. Would be interesting to see if this varies by party/demographic - figure that'd explain why certain messaging is used in ads and such

I think there is a strong correlation with voting and how involved you are with your community in general. For example, here in MN, we have the highest % of people that volunteer and highest % of voters. (In 2020, Minnesota broke a record when 79.9% of eligible voters in the state voted in the general election.)

met an ivy league grad in nyc last month who had never heard of kamala harris, my guess would be a significant number of that third has never even thought of politics

The two party system leaves a lot of people without representation. I responded to that by becoming involved in primaries, ballot initiatives and the Green Party to try and do something about it, but most people are just going to be like, well I don't care because the options are bad. If you're not a capitalist, if you're antiwar... Neither major party is an option.
