Don't leave the bare metal exposed for too long, it'll just develop more surface rust pretty quickly.  Are you planning on just prepping it yourself to get it primed and painted?

Thanks! Yeah I know, i was gonna spray a coat of primer and finish the paint some other time

Be careful with rattle can primer, paint doesn't stick to it as well.  Just a little nugget to help out, hopefully.

If you do go rattle can, don't go with the cheapest.  You know the old saying, you get what you pay for.
