Fun thing to do with your kid that will 10x your improv skills - instead of reading a book before bed, make up a story on the spot! Here's what I do - I ask them to give me any random word to start with. Like the other night I got "crocodile," and another time "mermaid." Then I just run with it and create a little story around that word (always with a happy ending ๐) It was pretty rough at first, but you get sooo much better with practice. It's actually the same exercise they use in professional improv classes - helps you get better at everything from keeping conversations flowing to nailing presentations and public speaking. Really builds up your confidence and ability to think quickly. Best part? It's made bedtime way more fun, and now my kid's starting to jump in with their own story plot twists ๐ There's something really special about it - since we're not looking at pictures in a book, it's like we're working out those imagination muscles together.

Ha! I do that too :D Also, I sometimes play trick on them by telling them the story of the little boy/girl who wanted to hear a story about crocodile|mermaid and then I enter recursion mode :)
