Expanding on this: initiatives that recognize "builders" can make a big difference for writers + editors by taking care in advance to make it clear that we're on the list of roles who can qualify as builders.

It lets writers/editors know our contributions are seen as valuable, rather than treated as an afterthought.

Love this clarification. 

I have always and will always see myself as a builder - writing, editing and thinking are the tools I've chosen. I don't see them as less-than software development etc.
