expertise doesn't scale linearly. Having one expert who's studied something for 20 years is qualitatively different from having 20 experts who've each studied it for 1 year. The former builds mental models; the latter replicates consensus.

interesting. hear me out though (this is me just thinking out loud) yes. there is a sort of profound, (individualized?) perspective that comes from long-term immersion but isn't there a possibility that a single expert might miss angles due to entrenched thinking?
