Great piece. I feel the flattening contributes to radicalization; that as preferences narrow, the infovore seeks new ways to be titillated. Genuine awe follows friction, so that’s off the table. Shock, controversy, and in-group pandering seem to scratch that itch the way methadone does; briefly, incompletely, and on schedule.
