Threads is going to generate a bunch of buzz and then fade after a few months because the best Twitter posters don’t have enough of an overlap on Instagram (if they use it at all). Twitter is about the unique accumulated social graph + 15 years of habit.

Text-based content appeals to people looking for in-depth information and nuanced discussion, and it’s an entirely different type of content than people typically come to Instagram for, IMO. Even if it doesn’t take off with hardcore Twitter users, it’s incremental AND strengthens Meta’s case as a 1 stop shop
