At what point is an app “fast enough” and, you should stop looking for perf gains?

Apart from biz metrics (read money from users) - how do you measure performance impact on users?

Context: We’re getting pushback from a team adopting our design system. A/B testing shows our Button takes 4ms longer to render compared to their current setup (2ms) — ignoring we offer theming, motion, etc out of the box. 

There is an idea those 4ms are critical, but nobody can say more than “this is slower”.

Extra context - this is a surface with massive scale. I’d typically agree with the industry influencers we tend to optimize too early - but this product in particular is at the point where ms _probably_ matter 🤌

A/B test it for real and see if those 2ms actually impact business metrics - otherwise impossible for us (and probably them as well) to say for sure
