The “it all just works together” aspect is critical. That’s what makes it so loved by the mass population. But it’s not for everyone!

also, by "mass population" do you mean the 78% share of smartphone market by android?

Does 1.36 billion iPhone users count as a mass population?

do you mean the 18% of all smartphone users? do you not see a better argument about 72% of users *not* using an iphone? this is why people fail to see global trends

The better argument is iMessage. The 72% who don’t use iPhone haven’t been locked in by that network. Android is more ubiquitous because there’s less lock-in for a lower price. Android offers more flexibility. Apple sells a unified, simple experience for a luxury price. Customers are paying more to think less.

do you think that 72% of people using android have to think more than "buy a phone, add contacts, install apps, use apps"? do you think that a lot of iphone users go beyond this?

I think there is a % of Android users who do have to think beyond that because they’re switching the brand of phone, a different flavor of the software and a slight different experience. The iPhone onboarding ports everything over quickly and seamlessly, making you feel like you have the same device, just upgraded.

how high is that %? not giving you my anecdote (and my wife's) because you will probably dismiss our experience

I don’t know those numbers. Happy to hear your anecdotes! I‘be given you mine and I don’t think I’ve given you a reason to think I’d be dismissive of your experiences.

when you start using products from other ecosystems, you start notice all these small details where apple comes short — and they add up but you'll never discover this unless you exit apple ecosystem first

can you try to guess the number? 10%? 20%? 70%? how many android users experience more friction than ios users with their everyday usage of their smartphones? what i'm getting is to broaden your perspective on apple ecosystem it works for you but other ecosystems might work for you even better devil is in details
