Aggressive culture change that actually succeed is exceedingly rare and sometimes is met with backlash almost immediately. However, infrapolitical change happens and by definition happens in a manner illegible to the state. I'd argue that we're actually past there. http://infrapolitics.c4sr.columbia.edu/index.html

Real talk: who is the target audience of formula one trading cards, since there are fewer drivers on the grid than the number of active players on a gridiron football team. And also, since the only worthwhile F1 trading anything is an autographed Christian Horner's half-naked calendar pose, why isn't that ever sold?

I''m not sure if it counts for irony but the way to actually solve the state-oppression issue there is.. well, push notifications, or any other non-email solution, since Github itself isn't banned in China and would cause too much chaos to actually ban. Instead, yeah, "values".

The New York Times hired possibly the most incompetent law firm they can find to send me a DMCA that is gibberish from start to finish, and I couldn't respond to it, because I was in China, and I wasn't going to break state-quarantine, period. Their notice was actually perjury, but can't respond != acceptance.

No way, even if I used something that isn't an MVNO (Google Fi). There's no way to audit their setup and history - or is it even history yet? - shows that they are not exactly paragons of data protection.

Mine are (Macbook Pro, iPad Air, Pixel 7a soon to be upgraded, Samsung Z4), but yeah, 1pass bridge the gap fairly well. But I also have other factors that are backups (a few keys, hd wallets, TOTP 2FA even). They are spread out so there's no single point of failure on my end.

If one of your founders has a law degree and practiced in administrative law, the costs will come down dramatically. Not saying that your founder should go pro se, but everyone who practiced makes relationships and frequently owes favors to each other for little things. I don't have an active bar card rn, don't ask me.

never take the state's word at face value when it comes to how effective censorship is. after all, if china haven't been able to ban porn after 70 years of trying...

chime almost killed me by not disclosing that they had a hard 2500 a day spend limit back in 2018 after i maxed out the amount buying furniture in july, in vegas, so uh, not them. n26 ditching the US market on short notice also a poor sign. hard to be confident when they lack confidence in own product
