Have you heard of an old manga called "OZ"? When I first read it, I couldn't believe it was a shoujo manga. It's deep and impactful, and it remains one of my favorites to this day. I think it was even made into an anime, probably an OVA. If you like hardboiled stories, you should definitely check it out.
