why is the web3 space suddenly so obsessed with the term "luxury"?

it’s a recognition of consumer behavior over the last 3 years. “luxury” doesn’t inherently mean expensive, but refers to goods valued on the basis of taste/narrative. onchain media is a luxury good — the internet wants free distribution, and the blockchain allows us to attach story/identity (luxury)

Wrote a long answer under @timdaub.eth's cast. 😊 I agree that luxury can be tied to story / identiy. However, luxury means also expensive in my opinion. Do you think IKEA is a luxury good? In my eyes, not really. Ikea has an identity / story, but it's affordable.
