Instead of figuring out “how to invest in startups as a venture contributor,” I feel like I should just be giving out small grants to bootstrapped projects that I love or want to bet on. 

Giving away money probably has better returns in the long run vs. angel investing.

i’m probably a really shitty angel investor, but i can make a lot of money long-term by supporting folks early in their journeys and having them as an ally throughout our careers. in that way, a small grant can go a long way.
