Am considering setting up a single-member LLC just so I can use Mercury as my defacto checking account instead of Chase.

I love Mercury since it have free international transfers without fees on the recipient's side, so it's a killer option across the competitors. So both options of creating LLC or join the beta of personal one is gonna get you better finance experiences.
