The way I understand it is that it’s using gradient descent to optimize the process or said in another way.

Google DeepMind just revealed AlphaEvolve, an agentic coding framework that has already discovered NEW knowledge.

AI is now routinely used to locate exoplanets.

In theory AI could control the telescopes, observe stars and find planets never known about before.

To many this is evidence AI can make scientific advances and is “discovering NEW knowledge.”
