I work at a venture backed healthcare company myself OK. And I LOVE some of the companies a16z has invested in, in the healthcare space. Function Health in particular I think is one of the premier DTC blood tests At the end of the day when venture gets involved in health we are acknowledging that we potentially are exposing vulnerable populations to venture-risk. So as example: When bench dot com abruptly shuts down and goes completely offline with no warning, that's annoying but ultimately kind of fine in the end. No one will die if you have to redo a tax form. But is that OK in healthcare? I am actually net optimistic about technology + health in theory. There are so many amazing things we could do. But Looking at history to-date I have seen tech littered with behavior that at best I could describe as low-integrity. There is such a culture of "ask forgiveness not permission" and IDK. What reason do I have to be optimistic, given how tech treats users? I can't think about it too much. Get too depressed.

Venture in healthcare raises ethical concerns. Tech's track record on integrity is cause for skepticism. Optimism tempered with caution
