Hard truth. While not really a gordita, Taco Bells normalizing a softshell stuck to a hard shell with melted cheese glue was one of the best things to ever come out of fast food. I do this all the time at home, although I prefer corn shells for both outer and inner layers.

I've never tried making that myself, but I bet pan-frying that shape it is way easier than frying chimichanga.

Gotta agree... besides adding great taste with the extra cheese,  there isn't anything else like that incredible soft crunchy texture. One of the best bites in fast food, and food in general!
