As a celebration of the new ZeroContract and an homage to the original Zero Group, this competition invites artists to explore the meaning of Zero and how it exists within a collaborative framework. How does the universal concept of Zero shape collective expression where hierarchy dissolves and human relationships define society? Zero leaders. Zero structure. Only the relationship between art and audience.

The Zero Contacters Artist Studio organically grew out of a shared goal of creating fully on-chain artwork. The group of currently 61 artists has no formal organization nor membership. It is a collective of individuals collaborating, discussing, and creating art. There are no invitations, no nominations, and no initiations. Membership is automatic by minting artwork with the ZeroContract. In emphasis on the loose organization and shared collaboration, I upgraded the ZeroContract to incorporate on-chain Collaboration.

For this competition, each entry is required to utilize this new collaboration mechanism and requires multiple artists creating unique pieces within a new shared collection deployed with the ZeroContract. A collaboration can have as few as two artists and be as large as desired. The process to enter this contest requires the following:

The uniqueness of Zero lies in the paradox of its transformative nature — a concept that can exist only through non-existence. Zero has the power to infinitely increase value, yet it can also be utterly worthless. It is the point at which everything begins, and simultaneously, where everything ends. Zero is the lack of expression yet the ultimate opportunity for the artist to engage.
