i’m 1000% for onchain creators, but this feels a bit disingenuous Jesse, someone with the greatest distribution on base, makes $6k on a mint on Zora but the same wouldn’t happen for someone with minimal distribution onchain in fact, a new artist would have to *pay* to put their music onchain and may get no mints

are we still in the early days of distribution? yes, absolutely. but if you do a side by side comparison, it's clearly 10x better. - person with distribution: clear path to making 10x more onchain - person without distribution: no way to make money offchain, make money on day onchain, even if it's limited by distro. also anyone can create for free on platforms like @zora.

to make this more explicit: if you as a new creator start offchain, you literally have zero pathway to making money until you build a scaled audience. onchain, you make money day one. do you still need to go viral? absolutely. but you'll get paid when you do, immediately.

10x better at making money, yes! not sure it’s 10x better at building community (yet). to me, this explicit explanation is much more compelling than the example in the short form vid posted only because you start w/ insane distribution. i’d guess that a more relatable and earnest example (like @afrochicks’s story) would hit better with viewers.

i guess i'm confused by i didn't mention 10x better at building community. fwiw - i expect that most creators with scaled web2 audiences would be able to do just as well if they used the tools in the right way. no reason you can't parlay a twitter or instagram or tiktok following into onchain revenue via mints.

yeah, sorry my reply was confusing. i feel its important to specify what metrics we're comparing when we say "10x better" (in this case, revenue gen) otherwise we risk overselling it. revenue gen may be 10x better onchain, but creators consistently don't rank $ as a top motivation which is why i brought up community.
