For weeks now, the only ads that I see on X are scams pretending that Elon is airdropping or pre-selling a token. Reporting them does nothing — they show up again the next day with different wording, pictures, and authors. Is this the new normal in X’s libertarian, anything-goes experiment that even scammers get a free pass, so long as they pay for ad space? I can’t imagine that X is unaware, given the number of reports being made. So, incompetence or malice?

Warped and disfigured form of onboarding new crypto users while at the same time, widening crypto’s total addressable market: 1) Rug them right off the bat so they learn what they’re getting into (the Wild West) 2) When they report it as fraud, it goes nowhere (the Wild Unregulated West) 3) Piss off enough newbies and if the money lost gets into high enough into billions, it gets on the radar of the SEC’s new chair to establish guard rails for crypto And BAM! We have a regulated crypto market. Zuckerberg can more safely onboard users in his Metaverse and they can use crypto to transact; Elon’s D.O.G.E. secures one of its first wins. 🤨
