If you don’t like the “make money” consumer value prop for Farcaster—what do you think is better? Reply with a suggestion and rationale. Like replies that resonate.

1/ I seriously did not come for the money or at least not directly. The initial hook was the Coinbase quest in January 2024 where the quest gave a little crypto to complete it. I was starting to build my crypto portfolio. I despised all social media for sharing /selling my info/online habits to advertisers and their predatory algorithms that tell me what I’m supposed to like or forced me to look at. When the algorithm was right, it pissed me off even more. Stop categorizing my life, my online choices - I am not my clicks. I guess that’s a better Farcaster value prop in my mind versus all other social media apps. There is no nebulous, nefarious, “we spent tens of millions on this algorithm to monetize our users” formula that is overlaid on the protocol so that everything you do here is fed into our evil formula to squeeze as much money as we possibly can from you. People hate being taken advantage of.

Haha sorry to clarify: I’m trying to make a distinction between a $3 Coinbase quest and the airdrops, etc. that active Farcaster community members can access which can add up to significant amts of crypto. I didn’t even know about airdrops or any of that. I got my $3 and just started reading the casts on Farcaster because they were interesting. My first reply was from @keccers.eth about how that iPhone that fell out of that Boeing plane window was still working after falling thousands of feet to the ground. @aaronrferguson talked with me about programming. They engaged with me and kept me interested. It just grew from there.
