Well if i don't lock it then I don't get anything at all from it sitting in my wallet. At least if i lock it then i have an allowance to give away.

Three month lock for a really low allowance when rules for receiving tips can be changed arbitrarily. There's also very little difference in allowance between the minimum amount a d what you have locked. If you really feel like you want a tipping allowance my suggestion would be to leave the minimum locked (10k), and leave the rest liquid for either selling or LPing.
