@jeffexcell and I had a little debate about why the government shouldn't be giving away money it stole from taxpayers in foreign aid. He thinks that USAID should continue to exist because it is saving lives by doing things like handing out free HIV drugs to people in need. I certainly understand why he would think this but I don't agree. Although apparently the HIV/AIDS programs are going to continue, even if they weren't I would argue that they are not a justification for the continued existence of USAID. USAID has brilliant branding, how could anyone be against feeding the hungry and handing out medicine? The facts are quite different, USAID is a organization well known for corruption, interfering in foreign affairs, manipulating elections, feeding terrorists, and spreading propaganda, and its all paid for by the US taxpayer. Do they do some good along the way? Sure. Does that mean they should continue to exist? No. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/marco-rubio-foreign-aid-future-trump-administration/

This brings up an interesting moral argument, is it okay for a corrupt organization to continue to hurt people if that same organization is also helping people? No I don't think so. The entire government is a criminal organization and USAID is just another part of that. I would say that arguing USAID should continue to exist despite it's corruption is similar to arguing that a violent gang should be allowed to continue to harm people because it donated money to help kids with cancer. Charity is very common among organized crime to build goodwill with the community, and the government is just another gang hiding under a democratic cloak of legitimacy. I will also point out nothing was preventing any of the people and organizations, some of whom are quite wealthy, who were outraged about USAID shutting down from stepping up and paying for those meds themselves. It's amazing what people can accomplish without any help from government if they want to.

“The entire government is a criminal org” I kind of refute this. Who paves our roads, who funds our schools, who pays park rangers who makes sure we have libraries, who makes sure we have parks? Who fixes bridges, who funds research when we have a pandemic? Your broad generalizations are not solid arguements. Could there be better audits of these programs? Yes. Great, then audit the programs. But excuse me if I don’t trust serial company destroyers to do it. Trump and musk have a trail of bad decisions behind them. I don’t think it’s out of place to question why we chose them to be the “great business man saviors” of our government.

I don't trust Trump and Elon either, but Trump and Elon are in the position they are in because the Government has too much power in the first place. Corrupt organizations attract corrupt people. Any good the Government does is completely negated by their mass enslavement of taxpayers, as well as the other crimes they commit every day. The old who would pave the roads argument has been gone over enough, but yes roads can still get paved without any need for extortion. And who is going to do the audits? A different member of the same gang? The criminals have done a brilliant job of convincing almost everyone that they aren't criminals. The idea that the people of Government are not criminals is taught to us from a very early age in the public schools they control. If an organization hurts people, kills people, and steals stuff they are by definition criminals. So I will agree to disagree with you.
