Jacek and DEGEN having negative events right before what's likely to be a pretty quick 2-3x'ing of DEGEN price in a matter of weeks is so totally on brand

Not sure that rebooting the chain wouldn’t have caused more chaos but I agree that certain things could have been done better.

You are probably right about being naive up front, but hopefully this scenario resolves asap and we get back to the main story of what the core chain can do,
at scale.

Their amateur'ness continues to shine through here. They should never have made any agreement with Conduit to begin with. I'd guarantee you there were huge red flags beforehand and yet they still went ahead with them. They mention even being too friendly with them. Like clearly they weren't thinking in business terms but rather like friendly terms with these incompetent fools.
And this piece reads like it's the worst thing in the world and the project is dead. Like, just state facts and come to a decision and ultimatum. Quite frankly who cares if they restart the DEGEN chain? It's such a weird, nichey thing to even have and isn't like the sole thing or even a minor thing which gives DEGEN value. So I'd do the restart ASAP and just F Conduit completely at this point.
