This isn't the main reason that people aren't onboarding onto Farcaster Warpcast has done a poor job of creating network effects where active users try to onboard their friends. I think many active users are discouraged to attempt to onboard their friends or social circle bc a) it costs $5 and b) there's not enough fun things for friends to do with each other like Words With Friends, Wordle, HQ Trivia etc. People already have too many messaging apps so I think Warpcast needs to offer messaging/social plus more fun activities in order for new users to onboard to yet another social platform or messaging app

the $5 thing is the most blatantly obvious factor in all of this, seriously lol

Or 10 user invited for every “real” user to try onboarding a group of friends. A “free test” channel would be cool too - doesn’t even need to be onchain, could just help onboard friends groups and demo all the channel capabilities from cross-posting to open actions and frames.

I dunno, I think looking at comments in another thread, onboarding is only one piece of the friction. The test channel idea is cool, almost as a way to familiarize them with how it works without ‘spam’ consequences.

Fwiw I think it’s been pretty hard to get users to try another messenger app like telegram. Once onboarded, and there are some friends too, some might still become inactive but many more will check it out from time to time. Warpcast has a different kind of powerusers who love to contribute. I just feel it’s a missed opportunity to not attempt and make 100k users sign up tomorrow. > Give me unlimited invites for all my friends & friends of friends and I’ll do a birthday invite, launch an active sports channel and a Bundesliga chat. Not experimenting with this approach is a mistake imo - wouldn’t even be expensive if it didn’t work out..
