last CD acquisition of the year is this wild album by jazz fusion composer and keyboardist Jun Fukamachi. he started experimenting with synths in the 70s and in 1989 founded the first synthesizer major as a professor at a Japanese university. Quark (1980) is difficult to summarize but to me it is equal parts Alan Parsons Project, Pink Floyd, and Vangelis. there are glimmers of upbeat Japanese fusion bands like Casiopea but the clouds donât usually part for very long. wouldnât recommend this one for casual listening, probably best served with some psilocybin or LSD. https://album.link/i/1542227722

if youâre in the right headspace, sure some of the synth work is very Alan Parsons Project, way more experimental overall though
