What would you have done differently to create more user lock-in?

It appears that Farcaster light-clients are entering a zero-sum game, if it's so easy to switch between apps. It seems to be in a developers interest to make it hard to leave.

Either with lock-in (iOS/Safari) or by deploying heavy resources to win (Google/Chrome). We haven't seen a small startup gain mainstream marketshare in the last 10 years.

Apple is famous for creating user lock-in, e.g. blue text bubbles 😄

Of course you need a great product, but why compete at a functionality level if users can signal their preference.

I dunno if purposefully creating *more* user lock-in is the move, it feels like providing actual value should be the reason users stay, no?

I’ve been thinking of building a video/photo client. Think like a smash up of unsplash/glass/instagram/YouTube 

But, as far as what I wanted to do with this project, mission accomplished 🫡
