Dr. Mike Israetel is becoming a tech bro go-to for weightlifting, appearing on Joe Lonsdale and Bryan Johnson’s YouTube channels While his foundational content isn’t bad, grain of salt with that guy. When the rubber meets the road he can’t hack it Left is Dr. Mike Right is another famous fitness YouTuber Sam Sulek, who won his pro card with the physique pictured Dr. Mike refuses to diet or do what it takes to be a bodybuilder other than take enormous amounts of gear (by his own admission). He blames his tan for his failure to place here To me he appears to be self destructing in real time. Tough to watch

I like Dr. Mike for what he is. He leans more common sense, gives a lot of “the shortcuts aren’t worth it, I should know” tidbits, and leans into his weird gremlin persona with a foundation of otherwise being a normal but educated dude. Salt is fine, it’s light and self-awarely oddball. He’s kinda like “I know some stuff, want you to enjoy my stuff, and like being weird”

The bodybuilding arc made me lose faith. No one too high iq for a coach. He’s competing too fat and won’t own it!

Yeah I don’t know why all the sudden he’s got something to prove. Early on he was like “I can’t compete and don’t want to” so yeah I don’t get it Also, my vocabulary is shot today. I know there’s more words I know than “leans,” “weird,” etc. I will say I wanted to love Dr Mikes RP Strength app. The mechanics were exactly what I wanted, but a web app was too clunky at the gym
