I, like many, want a government to function and be boring. However, a casual Nazi salute on national television is enough for me to absolutely be a fucking nightmare for the corporate elitist world for the foreseeable future. Looks like my dance card is officially full, folks.

"Casual" Nazi salute? If you watch the video it seemed almost violent in execution. This is a sad day for this country. Maybe marking the end of it. They say republics only last about 250 years, so we're right on time for the break down.

Absolutely being sarcastic with my choice of words. This was a blatant and inexcusable display. Now, there are two clearly defined sides in that one is with them, or not. No more of that “yeah but their policies…” bullshit

Agreed. Anyone who still says they voted for that man because he is a smart business man who will fix the economy and isn't disavowing him now no longer has anything to hide behind. As if he ever really had any policies to begin with. The only reason he ran was to escape convictions and imprisonment. He has no agenda other than revenge against his political rivals and anything else he is swayed almost hourly by whoever surrounds him that offers him some way to make more money off the people of this country. He can't run again after this term so he is beholden to no one for sanity or positive results from his dictates. It's going to be a chaotic time with his capricious nature. I'm not sure the country will survive 2 years to midterms that might be able to reign in some things, much less 4.

Perfectly said. This is my favorite cast all year. To your last point about survival, I’ll say this: more people think like you and me than not. I am apt to think the survive and grow stronger route is most likely. It is always possible to collapse, but this is the catalyst that was needed

Whether we actually get to vote again seems up in the air to me, tbh. But there's no denying that things are going to change from here. It's just as likely that after spending a few months or a year torturing everyone who has ever "persecuted" him and deporting a few people so he can stomp around and declare "immigration mission accomplished", he may get tired of people expecting him to govern and resign. Or nature may take its course to relieve him of his duty. And then we'll end up with a ruler in the VP with a genuinely evil agenda but absolutely no charisma to carry it through. There's a chance that sanity will return after that outcome. But who knows? It's impossible to plan for this future. If someone had written a movie script now about what things will look like in 4 years, no editor would approve it because it would be so fantastically implausible. I'm focusing on improving myself both in physical and financial health so that I can survive and help my loved ones survive no matter what is coming.
