Ndai Ndaiziveyi, whose name translates from Shona as "We leave all in the hands of God," is a 43-year-old mother of three who left Zimbabwe in January 2020 to work in South Africa, with the hope of putting her son through college. Fortunately for Ndai, she quickly found employment on a farm, where she continues to work to this day. Despite the hardship of being far from home, her and her husband’s combined sacrifice, allowed their son to achieve his dream of completing higher education. Ndai beams with pride, knowing that he is now a practicing optometrist. I photographed Ndai as part of my work documenting domestic workers.
