Because it hurts them when they lose power. They kept it in 2016. Remember, Democrats were the first to cross the line in reducing it.

They did but extending it to the entire Supreme Court was huge for them. I understand that it’ll hurt them if they lose power but the counter argument is they’d be able to pass lots of popular legislation and would be rewarded in 2026 and 2028. At some point one of the parties will get rid of it.

I doubt it. Only legislation Republicans will pass is a tax cut.
