I have always found lots of friends on Kauai, like when we were headed to the airport and found this turtle (maybe a slider?) trying to cross the street.

On the mainland, the general rule is to put them across the road in the direction they were headed, but since these turtles don’t belong on Kauai at all, I believe it washed out of someone’s decorative pond during a week of crazy rain and flooding.

There was a trough of water right near the road on a farm, so I put the turtle in there hoping that the owner of the farm might do something better when they found it.
